Kathy Gibson CEO, Special Olympics NZ, is keen to source additional volunteer support for a variety of roles from half a day, to a full day (or days), across our 11 sports. Additionally, she is seeking volunteer support to assist with the Opening & Closing Ceremonies at Te Rauparaha Arena from 8.30am–1.00pm on Mon 27th Nov & on Fri 1st Dec from midday to 4.00pm also at Te Rauparaha Arena. She is not keen to impose any quotas for any of the sports for this pinnacle event so every athlete that has qualified in their chosen sport no matter what their ability level is able to take part. There are a total of 1,771 athletes & coaches registered for this event, which is 32% up from the last time they held this event in Dunedin in 2013. The size and scale of this event, together with the special nuances that come with bringing the community together, means that they are requiring more volunteers than expected, hence the late call out to our Club for additional support. Rotary has always been a tremendous supporter of our major events around NZ and so she's asking if any of Members may have time available to assist us again this year. Any member support that's provided, no matter how large or small, would be greatly appreciated. |

This is in place of our usual meeting and a great way to start off the New Year. If it is fine, we will be in the park, and if wet in the club rooms.
Please bring your own meal, others in your family, and share with others. The fellowship facilities will be open and we will provide tea and coffee. There is no meal charge.
We will bring petanque balls along and you can bring other games if you wish.
