Last Meeting: Establishing a Naenae Market, Jodie-Ann Webster
With a background in health and fitness, Jodie-Ann shared her ambition to establish a food market in Naenae. An accomplished speaker, she displayed a series of wall sheets:
Being predominately a social housing community since the New World supermarket closed, Naenae has been deprived of its quality source of food and vegetables. Shockingly, there are 4 alcohol outlets, versus 1 food store, and children researched said they didn’t want the unhealthy food they were being offered in their community.
Jodie-Ann wants to try a prototype initially in April but wants an organisation to help her run this with the Team Naenae Trust. She believes there is support for this from Council and would love Rotary to help in some way, like its done with Healthy Homes.
Week's Parting Thought:
"He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything." ~ Arabian Proverb
"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and what you'd rather not!" ~ Mark Twain
This January, I was fortunate to join a group of experienced and cheerful Rotarian and Probus members, for a set of day-walking trips in the South Island Catlins.
