Nov 11, 2018 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM
"The Long Walk Home" is a combined Lions and Rotarian event - details are HERE.
The walkers are expected to pass under the Kennedy Good bridge from around 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm, where there would be an opportunity for a drinks station, that could be a fundraiser for the club.
Ideally, 6 to 10 members from our Club are required as Marshalls, placed at strategic points along the Hutt River Trail from 11.00 through to 2.30 - for one hour stints.
Alternatively, if those times do not suit and you're keen, there are other times between 8.00 am and 3.30 pm, and you'll be posted at other points along the route from the Wellington Railway station to Silverstream.

Science in Primary Schools - made fun for adults!
Dec 03, 2018
Find out how our young students learn about the world around them by having a play with the Hutt Science kits they use.
Hold a Beebot in your hand and make it's eyes light up (and maybe even race it with the next table), learn a new party trick or two, make a noisy musical instrument and see how a child's bones really look. You might even learn something new while you play!

Friends of Baring Head
Jan 28, 2019
Friends of Baring Head are a group of volunteers who are passionate about the history and nature of this iconic landscape on the Pencarrow Coast. After persuading Greater Wellington Regional Council to buy the land surrounding the lighthouse in 2010 and add it to East Harbour Regional Park, the Friends have pursued an exciting plan to upgrade the lighthouse keeper buildings and old pumping station, and to turn the site into a drawcard for tourists, day-trippers, trampers and those riding the Remutaka Cycle Trail, with interpretation panels and overnight accommodation. Rotary can help them realise this vision.

This will be one of the best social occasions you could hope for. You will be having dinner with a mystery group of Rotary friends and their partners at the home of another Rotarian. All you need to bring is your preferred drink, a smile, and $30. We are keeping the price low to minimize the post-Christmas pain (!) Your hosts will provide dinner and everyone will just about guarantee a convivial occasion. Proceeds from the evening will go to International projects. If you have not already registered your interest please contact David Thompson:- DavRussThomp@gmail.com, 04 5673333, 027 2415092. This is not a commitment at this stage – we just need an indication of likely numbers please. |

YOUth Inspire
Mar 25, 2019
Steven is a Sergeant in the Hutt Valley Police and has recently been seconded onto YOUth Inspire (YI) for three months to help them set-up a community driving school. The emphasis is on setting up a restricted driving course so at risk youth from Wainuiomata, Naenae, Taita and Stokes Valley, have a pathway to progress from their learner licence to their restricted licence. He and Ali will expand on this very worthwhile community initiative.
