Last Meeting: Dave Morris - granted Honorary Membership for Outstanding Service
President Pat's Citation:
Dave, you initially joined our Club in 1987-88. You were a member of the Youth, Vocational, Community and International Committees, being Convenor of the Youth committee in 1989-90 and Director of that Committee in 1990-91. You resigned in June 1999 as you were moving overseas, and rejoined in 2008, becoming Treasurer in 2011 and brought our finances into the 21st century.

Unless one has worked closely with a Treasurer most people would not know the amount of work involved and to do this for 8 years is truly remarkable. I also know the work you put into the Christmas Raffle, every day picking up money, banking, doing the float, filling in spread-sheets, and reporting. Your financial reports to our Board meetings were always accurate and easy to follow.

Dave, this Club owes you a big thank-you for the 18 years you have been with us and we are very disappointed that you have left but we understand your circumstances and we wish you and Annette a happy future. To show our appreciation of your efforts I have great pleasure in granting you Honorary Membership the Rotary Club of Eastern Hutt. [Followed by a standing ovation].

Parting Thought:

Any committee that is the slightest use is composed of people who are too busy to want to sit on it for a second longer than they have to." ~ Katherine Whitehorn

My International Exchanges
I was invited to join Rotary in 1990 (that’s how it was in those days) and my first committee was International, and this side of Rotary became a huge part of our lives. My Gisborne club, in District 9930, was very active in hosting both GSE (Group Study Exchange) and RFE (Rotary Friendship Exchange).
