Last Meeting: 2018 Christmas Dinner
Some might say it was a full house but everyone certainly enjoyed it! The highlight was the 2nd PHF for John Terris (featured below) but another humorous episode of Ron Hunter's life with Aunty Gladys of Eketahuna was once again enjoyed - and yes, he assured us that there is more to tell!
Following another excellent meal from Chalet Caterers, crooner Steve Carlin provided us excellent entertainment, singing a number of well-known popular songs, including some Christmas classics.
Thanks to everyone who were involved in making the evening a success.
Week's Parting Thoughts:
“I stopped believing in Santa Claus when my mother took me to see him in a department store, and he asked for my autograph." ~ Shirley Temple
“You know you're getting old when Santa starts looking younger.” ~ Robert Paul
John Terris, QSO, was tonight's recipient of a 2nd Paul Harris Fellow Award tonight, a person who has been a stalwart of the Hutt Valley for many years. A Rotarian since 1997 initially with Hutt Valley Rotary, and then Eastern Hutt Rotary from 2011.
For many of us born in the Northern Hemisphere a summer Christmas takes a bit of getting use to. In the UK, where I come from, Christmas is usually a time of short days and cold temperatures being close to the mid-winter solstice.
Please study and plan ahead, especially if you are on duty to write a Bulletin Contribution. A reminder that it's also your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfill your duty.
* Monday 17th December: This will be a fish & chip meal that we will do ourselves - $12 for 2 pieces of fish, and chips. There will be a board around this coming week as we will have to order Monday lunch time with The Avalon Fish Shop. Also, we will have butted bread and tea and coffee. Let Judy/Dave know if you don't get your name on the board and wish to come.
* Message from President Pat: "On behalf of Leigh and I, we would like to wish all our Rotary friends and their families a very happy Christmas and a great New Year."
* Guess Who's Coming to Dinner: An upcoming event - please check this out HERE.
