Hamish Campbell -  The Geological Shaping  of Wellington Harbour
Hamish is a Geologist and Emeritus Scientist at GNS Science with a continuing involvement with Geology and an interest in History.  Born in Christchurch and brought up and educated in Dunedin with a scholarship to Cambridge he has had a distinguished career with GNS which included being seconded to Te Papa where he wrote the concept for the Awesome Forces exhibition (1998-2019), one of the highlights of the museum.  Hamish now spends time at GNS and leads educational trips.

* The roster can change weekly with absences etc so please check the roster each week to see if you have a duty.
 
* Africa on Fire
 Ross Barber is having a container delivered to their site in Woburn to get ready for the next shipment to Felito and Anna.  He mentioned they are needing the items listed below. There is no requirement for the items to be in new condition just useable and clean please.
Sewing machines
Hand tools
Children's clothing
Toys
Single blankets and sheets
Pillows and pillow cases
Double bed bedding
Towels
Members can bring items to Rotary. Please speak to Glenda if you need large items collected.  The container will be there until November. 
 
Ross asked Glenda to pass on all their grateful thanks for remembering Africa on Fire. There are never enough words to express how they feel at not being forgotten.
 
Community & Member Activity
Riverbank Cleanup 
A reminder for those members taking part in the Hutt River clean up.  
Sunday 29th September - 10am.
Where: Hutt riverbank carpark, Andrew’s Ave entrance
Area covered: from Ava rail bridge to Melling Bridge (depending on volunteer numbers)
The River Ranger will provide gloves, bags and some pick-up tools.

Morning tea will be provided, please bring your own hot drink.    
Parting Thought
 
Paddy provided the parting thought at the end of our meeting - 
"Like all of you, I can look back on my life for the past 80 years or more and appreciate that I have lived a charmed life, mostly with no effort on my part but more dictated by things around me. I have lived by the mantra, there but for the grace of God go I."
