Last Meeting: Robin Lye - Hearing NZ Hutt Valley
Robin started losing her hearing in the teenage years, a genetic cause, but a middle-ear disease developed and by the time she was 30, she was left profoundly deaf. Back then, hearing devices helped but with today's use of technology, they have improved significantly.
A month ago Robin's 8-year-old hearing aids had to be replaced and she was astonished by how much more she could hear, even though she'd been happy with her old ones. There were so many sounds that she hadn't been hearing and was thrilled by the fabulous improvements!
Self-sensitivity around having hearing aids soon subsides when people realise what they can do. Effective hearing devices are individually programmed just for you, by a competent audiologist, and this makes the world of difference.
Hearing NZprovides a wide range of very helpful services, so call in to talk with Robin at Lower Huttand she'll enthusiastically help you navigate the various issues.
Week's Parting Thought:
"The most important thing in communication, is hearing what isn't said." ~ Peter Drucker
On Wednesday morning I had the pleasure to go to Rata St school for the distribution of this year's Duffy books. It was a first for me and what a great experience.
Please study and plan ahead, especially if you are on duty to write a Bulletin Contribution. A reminder that it's also your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfill your duty.
