Last Meeting
From President Glenda
Monday night's meeting was a very productive meeting I felt.  Thank you to all who attended and were willing to engage in a ‘round table’ discussion regarding the year ahead for Rotary.  I think we all agree that it is proving harder to engage others to join so changes need to be made in a way we can all benefit from.  Whilst we had limited time to discuss in our groups – there are some great ideas that I will share with you all once I have compiled the answers in a simple format.  I can tell you, the overriding agreement felt by all is that we need to increase our numbers and this is the year to do it.

Community & Member Activity
Our Club's First Meeting
Are you aware our club "Rotary Club of Naenae" held its first meeting February 6, 1962. 64 years ago.  When Keith Watts, President of the Rotary Club of Hutt, sponsored a new club in the NaeNae area,  22 foundation members attended a special meeting in the local Community Centre on 12 December 1961.  They agreed to form a new “Rotary Club of NaeNae” with Max Green as president.  The first meeting of the new club was held on February 6, 1962.  In 1965 the club changed its name to the “Rotary Club of Eastern Hutt”.  One of its first actions was to present a defibrillator to the Hutt Hospital."
Thank you to our archivist, Colin Alford.

Parting Thought

Colin Alford provided the parting thought this week.

"With the tragedy at Mt Maunganui, I think it's a good time to reflect on how fragile and precious life can be.  Live for today and enjoy every day as much as we can, as nobody knows what tomorrow will bring." So very true Colin.
