Last Sunday 12 members, partners and family travelled to Taihape on the "Polio Train". A great time was had by all. It was a very long day departing from Paekakariki at around 7.45am, stopping to pick up passengers on the way. We also stopped at Palmerston North to "feed and water" the train before travelling on to Taihape arriving at around 2.00pm. We spent an hour in Taihape before starting the return trip to Paekakariki arriving at around 9.00pm. Around 350 people took the journey which included 110 rotarians and their families. At the time of publishing it is not known how much money was raised for polio. |
