President's Report to September Board Meeting
The highlight for August must be the successful wine tasting evening.  It was once again a fun evening, and we cannot thank the 8 vineyards that came along enough for the evening.  The International committee under Brian Clarke did a great job organizing and a big thanks must go to Annette Ruck and her catering corps who organized all the food.

Jaye's trip to UK
Not quite on the same scale as the "Polio Train" but Jaye riding the train with her family, Nephew Michael and Amy, great niece Lily, and great nephew Leo. Enjoy your trip Jaye!
Ride the Train for Polio
Last Sunday 12 members, partners and family travelled to Taihape on the "Polio Train". A great time was had by all. It was a very long day departing from Paekakariki at around 7.45am, stopping to pick up passengers on the way. We also stopped at Palmerston North to "feed and water" the train before travelling on to Taihape arriving at around 2.00pm. We spent an hour in Taihape before starting the return trip to Paekakariki arriving at around 9.00pm. Around 350 people took the journey which included 110 rotarians and their families. At the time of publishing it is not known how much money was raised for polio.

* A request from Glenda Barratt - Kia ora friends. No doubt you've heard I'm standing again in the Central Ward in this year's elections for local Government. I am asking if there is anyone that might have a fence that I could erect a sign or a property that we could put one up on in the Central Ward. I would be most grateful if you could email me on glenda.barratt@outlook.co.nz or text or call on 0211289377. Warm regards

Parting Thought

Robin Aitken offered a Chinese proverb as the parting thought -" If you want happiness for an hour take a nap.  If you want happiness for a day go fishing.  If you want happiness for a year inherit a fortune.  If you want happiness for a lifetime help somebody".

Rostered Duties & Responsibilities:
