Last Meeting: Annette Ruck - Introducting to "Hutt Science"

She spoke about Hutt Science, a project run through the Hutt City Council, a hub for science and technology.  The project is run by Dr Anne Ryan and is available to all primary and intermediate schools in the Hutt Valley and Upper Hutt City.  One part-time paid helper and 9 volunteers help Anne keep the program running very smoothly.

There are now 80 kits covering 35 different topics including biology, chemistry, environmental, physics, commuter programming and forensics available for schools to borrow on a weekly basis.  Everything needed for all of the experiments, including instruction cards and worksheets, are provided and all kits are bilingual so are suitable for Maori Immersion classes.

Week's Parting Thoughts:

So remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and hold on to that childlike wonder about what makes the universe exist.~ Stephan Hawking

It is important to remember that we all have magic inside us. ~ J. K. Rowling
