We warmly welcomed our 2018-19 District Governor, Marion and her husband Mike. They both work together in their motor vehicle business in Wanganui.
She said how fortunate we were to have one of the District’s largest membership and congratulated us on our range of projects and the fundraising we’ve achieved. All the same, she reminded us that as we are all volunteers, reminded us to still seek District help, rather than to struggle by on our own.
Marion advocated service, ahead of fundraising, and being more inclusive within our community. This means having a greater public image, highlighting the wonderful things we achieve and asking others to join with us. We must share our passion, not keep it a secret. Still, we must not stop Rotary's global focus to eradicate Polio, as only 18 people in the war-torn Afghanistan were infected this year.
She finished with something the World President said, “Let's not keep Rotary's story – the story captured in those snapshots of service – to ourselves. I challenge you to invite leaders of all ages, men and women, who are looking for a way to give back. By doing so, you will Be the Inspiration in your community and help Rotary continue to do good in the world.”
