Last Meeting: Women's Refugee
It would be a fair reflection that most were stunned by the information shared by Johanne Greally of Women's Refuge and Phillippa Wells, the Manager of the Hutt Refuge home. Here is a copy of their presentation.
Week's Parting Thought:
"Today is the oldest you've ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be in the future, so enjoy this day whilst it lasts. Do not regret growing older, as it is a privilege denied to many."
~ Paddy Wells' thoughts when he recently passed a milestone birthday!
Our District conference is in Palmerston North, on the weekend of 11-13th May. Mitch Brown’s conference promises to be a lively affair and it would be great to have a good turnout from our club. It will include District training, so it’s important that as many incoming board members as possible attend.
For those looking to use hotel accommodation, there are arrangements with three hotels – approx. prices for two nights being Copthorne ($330) Distinction ($280) and Coachman ($260). To give us an opportunity of being together, I’m putting a notice board round next Monday for members, without commitment, to indicate their preferences.
Can you please confer at home as to whether you are coming, or may come, and be ready to respond next Monday. The outcome with be advised so people have the opportunity to gather at one hotel, if they prefer.
So far our numbers are 15, so there is room for many more!!
WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO GROW UP IN CANNONS CREEK AND BE THE OLDEST OF 12 CHILDREN
It certainly wasn’t a bed of roses, but it was all worthwhile now with over “100 people for Sunday lunch” with brothers, sisters, their husbands & partners, their children and their husbands and partners, children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. The amazing thing is we all get on!!
