Special Olympics Volunteers
Last year, at very short notice (2 weeks) our club was asked to provide volunteers to help at the Special Olympics being held in the Wellington region between 27 November and 30 November.

After discussion with the event organisers, our club members were assigned the Bocce event at the Hutt Indoor Sports Centre, Seaview.

Bocce is a ball sport belonging to the bowls family and is closely related to British bowls and French petanque.
A total of 26 members offered to help. Unfortunately, I was unable to assist being called to hospital to have a hip replacement operation at very short notice.

I would like to place on record my gratitude for the amazing response I received from our members when I called for volunteers and the way they all stepped into their role without any drama and in a very professional manner.
