On Monday evening we had the last Club Forum under my presidency.  Each committee director read out their teams latest activities and highlights of the last 12 months.  Where has that time gone?
Here is a round up of the year's activities:
The Christmas trailer raffle was completed again in December.  The ticket price was increased to $3.  While ticket sales were down slightly on last year, we managed to collect more money due to the increase in price and the donation of the second prize by New World Hutt City.
Many activities were undertaken during the year - the Avalon Park gazebo renovation, the establishment of the Dementia Garden at Woburn Presbyterian Home, the clean up of the Hutt Riverbank (between the Melling Bridge and the Ava Railway bridge), tidy up of the shrub & tree memorial to Dave Comparini at the Hutt riverbank.  We also assisted with various street collections locally to help raise money for charities.  Club members assisted Te Omanga Hospice with the running of their very successful golf tournament raising over $73,000.
A very entertaining Quiz night was held recently which raised approximately $6k for Wellington Free Ambulance (topped up by another $1k by the club). The fashion parade at Ballentynes held a few weeks ago was another successful event raising funds for the Lower Hutt Foodbank.
The Walk for Mental was held again along the Petone foreshore.  Weather treated us well.... and we hope this might become a much bigger event in the future with the help and promotion to include all the Rotary Clubs of Wellington.  Just last weekend the Healthy in the Hutt was held at the Walter Nash Centre in Taita.  It was completely booked up and visitor numbers were fantastic.  What a great event.
There were also all the regular events we partake in (Usborne Dictionaries to local primary schools, Duffy Books and local community contributions like that) that Eastern Hutt Rotary has helped with for some years.   At our 8 April meeting we had the pleasure of hosting members of Rotary District 6840 in the USA.  An evening enjoyed by all.
There are too many individuals to thank for all the time and effort that has gone into making this year a very enjoyable one.
Let's continue our work to make the community a better place.
