We were delighted to welcome Hannah Pilbrow, General Manager, and Frankie Herrington, Chair of the Board, from the Common Unity Project and The Remakery to our recent Eastern Hutt Rotary meeting. Hannah and Frankie were wonderful speakers who shared their enthusiasm for the project and gave us a fascinating insight into the many ways Common Unity is making a real difference in our local community.
Based at 310 Waiwhetu Road in Epuni, Common Unity is all about bringing people together, creating connections and making everyone feel welcome. Through practical, hands-on projects, people have opportunities to learn new skills, share their knowledge, work together and discover what they can achieve as part of a community. Their work embraces sustainability, sharing resources and building a stronger, more resilient neighbourhood, while providing a place where people can feel valued and connected. It was inspiring to hear how these simple but powerful ideas translate into meaningful action in the lives of local people. A big thank you to Hannah and Frankie for an engaging and uplifting presentation. We came away with a real appreciation of the wonderful work being done at Common Unity and the positive difference it is making in Epuni.
