Since when do we as Rotarians decide whether our efforts in the Community are, "Worth our while, or not"!

How do we quantify the Benefit of …
  • Being Monitors of a Reading Group at Naenae College?
  • Taking boys from the Special Needs Unit at Naenae College for a Drive to the Airport or the Golf Driving Range every Thursday?
  • Picking up Rubbish from the River Bank?
  • Organising a Walk for Mental Health along the Petone Esplanade?
Whereas for other Projects like
  • Seniors Christmas Lunch
  • Queensgate Christmas Raffle
  • Te Omanga Hospice Golf Tournament
We can look at the Funds raised, versus the Time and Effort put in to collect those funds.

For these Projects our President can uphold our existence as Rotarians by quantifying our success in dollars, We have had a great year, we raised $50,000 for local charities”.
During 2018 and 2019 I have been present as Committees decided, a mere three weeks before the Te Omanga Hospice Golf Tournament, an event that regularly raises over $8,000 for the Hospice, that it is, not worth our while to run the event.

Come along to the Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club on the evening of Friday 22 March, as President Pat Heffernan presents a cheque for at least $8,000 to the CEO of Te Omanga Hospice and tell me again, "It was not worth our while".
