Tena koutou katoa
Thank you all for a great 'first night' for me. It's always good to look out to a sea of faces and feel you are amongst friends. Equally as important was drifting amongst the different Committees and hearing the plans for the year ahead, knowing that amongst you all, are some very exciting things planned for our future and the future of our communities.
What we do need to focus on this year is our membership, and how we as a club are going to grow and sustain that membership for years to come. The future for Rotary is at a critical point where we each need to look more, talk more, and act more, to encourage those we know who would make excellent ambassadors to carry the Banner of Service when it becomes too much for us personally.
I am hopeful that our District Governor Carol Green will talk to us on these matters next Monday evening. She has first hand knowledge of changes that different clubs have made to boost their membership. Maybe some will resonate with us, or maybe we do things differently. The choice will be ours.
Please feel free to bring your spouses or family members with you to share this night with us. For catering purposes I ask you to let Tony know if you are bringing a guest before Sunday 4pm.
For those travelling and taking leave of absence, I wish you well. Travel safe and return to us with tales of your journeys far and wide. Make sure you take lots of photos to entertain us on a speaker free night.
Nga mihi
Glenda
