As many of you know, I am from a very large family.  On 2nd May, along with a niece, I arranged via zoom to have a virtual birthday party for my Mum’s 90th birthday.  Family members dialed-in from all over NZ, plus Australia, Sweden, and Singapore.

There were 42 computers involved and it took around two and a half hours.  Everyone had the opportunity to talk to Mum and her grandchildren and great grandchildren performed little acts for her.  It was a lot of hard work to set up and run but well worth the effort.
It was a surprise for Mum, and she was stunned as each family popped up on the screen to wish her a happy birthday.  We all dressed up for the event in formal dress.  Mum thoroughly enjoyed her virtual birthday party as did we all.

I would recommend this idea to anyone wanting to celebrate a significant event, but can’t be there in person.
