The thing that makes us different, is of course, the warmth we share from joining together as Rotarians and being able to share light banter, a good meal, mixed with a few laughs and the emptying of pockets from the sergeant session.
We were equally blessed to hear from our RYLA student Cailey Coles. To my mind perhaps one of the best RYLA speakers we have had in a very long time. Cailey was joined by her mother Claudia de Jager. Quite rightly a very proud mum. Cailey aptly described her time with RYLA and how it had impacted her growth in teaching her how to understand others, and apply the teachings to her everyday life of study and work. She did such a great job at speaking with us that there was only one or two questions, meaning she covered her topic thoroughly with great clarity. I am sure this young lady is going to go far in her chosen career of Internal Design.
It was with pride we heard how the Golf Day to raise funds for Te Omanga Hospice, netted them a profit of $70,000 to enable them to continue the very valuable work they continue to do in our community. Thank you to Jan and Brian for their coordination of this event over many years.
Although we were a tad late starting, committees got off to a great start with your planning for the next few months. Thank you to all of you who kept smiles on your faces even though a late start meant an even later finish.
I started with Dr Suess so I will finish with another of his profound sayings; “Don’t let Monday ruffle your feathers – spread your wings and soar into the week with confidence and positivity."
