The new Rotary year got off to a wonderful start with the celebration of the 60th anniversary dinner held at the Boulcott Heritage Farm Golf Club on 29th June.  It was a real pleasure to present the latest of Paul Harris fellowships to an ex-member of our club Sir John Clarke.  Since then, our committees have all been busy on projects and I will entrust the respective Board members that lead our committees to report on the activities they have been engaging in so far.

Sadly, we lost one of our much-loved members in October with the passing of Wim Julicher.  Wim had been a member of our club since 1995.  I felt very proud to see so many from our club make the journey to Martinborough to join Sue and the rest of Wim’s family at his funeral.  I also want to acknowledge the passing of John Pudney – a former member (more recently an honorary member), last week.  John was another hard-working contributor to Rotary of many years.
Thanks to:
  • Jan for the marvellous job she is doing with the bulletin;
  • Errol for bringing in the $ with his sergeant sessions;
  • Ron for quietly doing so much that ensures our meetings go smoothly each week; and
  • John Cole who is my go-to at the end of the phone whenever I am not sure of something.
I really appreciate the Board for all their efforts this half year.  So much is happening in the committees.  Of course, the contribution of David Thompson as secretary and Tony Cornelius as treasurer cannot go without being acknowledged.  They both do such an amazing job.

We still have a couple of big things on our club diary before the end of 2022, with our Christmas trailer raffle heading into the Mall on 26 November and of course our Christmas party on 5th December.

Thank you all so much for all the positive support you have given me – I look forward to seeing what the rest of the Rotary year brings…..
