A huge thank you once again to all those who helped with the collection for Te Omanga Hospice. Jan was able to tell us the amount raised which was in excess of last year's figure. What a wonderful success! It also goes to show that when the economy is taking a major nosedive, the hearts and compassion of the residents of our city, dig deeper to provide for those in need.
We were very privileged to have an amazing speaker for the evening. Cynric Temple-Camp spoke on his work as a Pathologist. His presentation was enlightening to say the least. A wee bit of humour gave the speech the right amount of ‘bite’ to keep everyone enthralled for the 30 minutes or so he was in charge. Cynric also brought along his books for sale for which a few of us took up his offer to purchase. All proceeds will go towards the free helicopter service. A piece of good news is he and his wife Shelly have agreed to come back for ‘part two’ later in the year to talk about the Mark Lundy case.
Thank you to the International Committee for their Wine Tasting event which was highly successful. A great night was had with around 70 people attending and sampling the Wairarapa Wines alongside the nibbles presented by rotarians. Around $800 was raised through raffle sales with President Glenda winning the coffee maker (stunning prize) and one of the Vintners taking home the BBQ. Overall, a wonderful evening.
Last but certainly not least, June Stratton has kindly agreed to accept the nomination as President Elect for the 2027/2028 year following Robin Fenwick. We wish June all the very best for her year.
