A big thanks to our helpers -
Mike, Paul, Kathy, Absie, Jan, Glenda, Christine, Tony, Jenny and Brian Klee.
A huge thanks to Mike and Paul who spent hours in the kitchen heating up the soup.
Thanks to everyone who donated goods for the draw. The winners were a family who really appreciated the prize.
Further thanks to Kathy and John Matthews for printing out the flyers, John Vile for the signage and Mike and Paul for putting the sign up and taking it down.
A special thank you must go to Julia Milne and her team from the He Puawai Trust who made the delicious chunky vegetable soup and to Countdown for the rolls and boxes of fruit.
Finally a big thank you to the staff at Walter Nash Stadium who helped us with the set up and then had a major clean up job at the end as the bread rolls were super crusty and crumbs were everywhere.
I was talking to the providers after the event and found out over 35 vaccinations had been done. They were so pleased with the result they
are planning to go to Walter Nash on a weekly basis with the truck.
Also, Chris from Super Grans was so thrilled with how it went. They were the last promoter to pack up as they were still helping 2 young girls to learn how to sew. Chris said this event had shown her how important it was to be out in the public and is thinking about how this might be done in the future.
Bee Healthy did 8 dental check-ups for children and this included children who had missed out during the routine school visits.
The Fire Service had an outstanding display with interactive software. It enabled a person to place themselves in a house and to escape out of it when it caught fire.
It was a very popular stand and the kids and Colin Fenton just loved it. This is the first time they have brought this technology to Healthy in the Hutt.
There were queues for the face painting and it went well past the allocated time.
The Blood Pressure students were popular and were kept busy throughout the whole event.
Healthy in the Hutt is an outstanding success in the way it informs people about health providers, wellness and keeping safe. It makes a difference to people's lives.
Thank you Shelley for arranging another fabulous "Healthy in the Hutt" event. It certainly was a very successful event with over 20 stall holders in attendance with everything from blood pressure checks to to hearing checks, dental checks, a vaccination caravan, Supergrans, Fire Service, Face painting and many more.
