We were entertained by a delightful presentation by Sina Olasoju, on her 5 day stay at RYLA in January, at Forest Lakes, Otaki, Beforehand, Sina was very nervous about attending the camp, and needed reassurance from her parents of her ability to cope with a completely new environment. However, her fears were unfounded and she thoroughly enjoyed the activities, the friends she made and the confidence it has given her going forward.
Highlights of the week for her were playing 10 pin bowling for the first time, and being top scorer of her team, learning to swim for the first time when her team had to build a raft and paddle across the pool, the emphasis on team building, etc etc. The real highlight however was making so many new friends, building her self confidence. Her enthusiasm and vitality shone through her whole address. Sina has joined Rotaract, Wellington, is saving to go to University next year and is keen to take up any job, full or part-time, that members might be aware of. She, and her father Kenny, thanked the Club most sincerely for our sponsorship. This was a great example of the benefits of a Rotary Youth programme.
