The Rotary International Board, The Rotary Foundation Trustees, and all their committees will meet online at least till the end of 2020. The Board has recommended that all Institutes and training of incoming officers also be virtual. The ban on the funding of Rotary travel continues.
There will be no more President’s Representatives appointed to District Conferences, at least for 2020/2021. Some have been good and some haven’t! The process has been that RI pays to get the President’s Rep to the conference, and the District picks up the cost of accommodation and meals, but not next year...or maybe forever.
There have been telethons in the US and India for Covid-19 relief during May.
There are now over 1800 Youth Exchangee's who have returned home early.
RI is happy that we have 36 District Governors under the age of 50 and this may become a trend as incoming DGs look for ways to serve Rotary in this way while still working.
There will be a free virtual International Convention from 20th -26th June 2020 so you can attend a Convention from home! Not sure how the time zones will work.
The Rotary Foundation has given out $13 million in Covid-19 related global grants and another $4 million in specific disaster relief grants.
