What spare time I ask?
Life is very busy in the Palmer household.
With Doug still working a lot of the household chores fall to me although he does do the cooking which is a huge help.   We have been running a bnb for the last 5/6 years and with occupancy running at around 70% it keeps me extremely busy with new guests arriving every two days on average.  I have been delivering meals on wheels for the last 15 years and am often called on if they are a driver short on any particular day.
Doug and I actively fundraise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand, me knitting snoods and selling them online and at the Otaki Market and Doug (until recently) doing long sponsored walks to raise funds for BCNZ. He is also involved in running the annual pink ribbon breakfast and running an annual fish auction to raise funds for Mary Potter Hospice.
We are also involved with an organisation called “Time Out”  where we offer our bnb free to terminal patients and their families to enable them to spend a few days together prior to their loved one passing.
My pleasures are walking our dog, Rastus on the beach and in Queen Elizabeth Park and riding with the Kapiti Kruzers twice a week - riding around 130kms a week.  The new Peka Peka to Otaki section of the shared pathway has just opened and this means we can now ride off-road for 35 kilometres between Paekakariki and Otaki.  A great ride and I suggest you try it sometime.
Oh yes and I am the bulletin editor for our rotary club’s weekly bulletin.  Spare time – what spare time!
