Ian James - Guest Speaker 
On Monday night we had an excellent presentation from Blind Low Vision NZ Guide Dogs members, Ian James, and Mary Atkins, accompanied by their respective Guide Dogs – Dendi (retired), and Ned who is currently working with Mary.  We heard that there were currently nine categories of Service Dogs:
  • Guide dogs to support blind and visually impaired people
  • Hearing dogs
  • Seizure alert and response dogs
  • Diabetic alert dogs
  • Allergy detection dogs
  • Mobility assistance dogs
  • Autism service dog
  • Psychiatric service dogs
  • Therapy dogs

* Club Christmas Party - Monday 5 December 
Just a reminder that the Christmas Party on Monday commences at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.  President Kathy and the organising team look forward to seeing you there in your Christmas attire. 
 
* Te Omanga Hospice Golf Tournament - Update 
Only 5 more teams are required to fill the event so if you are thinking of entering a team be quick.  We are still looking for hole sponsors though.  If you would like to sponsor a hole please speak to Brian or Jan.  You don't have to enter a team to be a hole sponsor.  We are also looking for more auction items.  If you can assist please speak to Brian Clarke, or Jan

Improvement of the Dementia Garden at Enliven  
On behalf of Mary Houston, wife of our late club member Richard, who has kindly made a generous donation to improve the garden at the Dementia Unit at Enliven Rest Home in Lower Hutt, our club has taken on the task of providing the people power to do the work.
