What wonderful speakers we had on Monday. Blain Collinge and Justine Hamill spoke to us about the organisation they manage called Red Door Recovery. A drug and alcohol treatment service based in Upper Hutt in a tranquil rural setting. The Kaupapa they work by is in the 'belief that healing happens through working deeply on ourselves together, through connection, aroha and whanau’. A holistic approach that does not use blame or shame to achieve results.
It was lovely to look through the bulletin from last week and then sit and watch the video “The Boys of 1905”. For me it reiterated just how far we have come as a rotary organisation, when it truly was a ‘Boys Club’. I believe women were invited in around the 1980’s (if I’m not wrong) and many changes have happened since that day.
A reminder that it's your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfil your duty. Please let Mike Fackney know of any changes to the roster.
